Rosscos VW Projects - Pictures - VW Nationals 2004
2004 VW Nationals

I finally made it!  I have been promising myself that I would go to the Sydney VW Nationals for a very long time and this year I made it!  It was well worth the wait too.  One thing is for sure - I will be back to this show again next year, and then the year after, and then ....

The VW Nationals is held over the Easter long weekend and is in two parts.  On Saturday is the Drag racing, which was held this year at the new Western Sydney International Raceway (Eastern Creek), then on Sunday is the Show and Shine at the Fairfield Showgrounds.

The Drag Racing saw many street registered cars come out and have a go on the track.  As this was a bracket racing event, the emphsis is on consistancy and not so much on speed.  This meant that a super reliable stock car had just as much chance as a highly modified drag race only vehicle.  It was a very interesting day, however due to our very early start that morning (we flew into Sydney that morning) we didn't see the finals as we were just too tired to stay.

On Sunday the show and Shine was held at the Fairfield showgrounds.  It is an undercover event so the weather doesn't play as much of a part (and this would have to be one of the first shows that I have come away from without some part of me being sunburnt!) and the cars were there in force!  Everything from everyday drivers to mega dollar restorations and customs - ther was something to keep everyone happy!  One thing is certain - I need to start growning money trees if I am going to be able to compete with some of  these guys!  The photos say it all....

**Please note:  the pics are in no particular order and are a small representation of the vehicles on hand, I took many more photos during the two days but it would take this page too long to load if I included all of them - click on any of the the pics below to expand them. **
